“Assembly” by Photographer Osamu Yokonami

“Assembly” by Photographer Osamu Yokonami

In his “Assembly” series, Yokonami explores community, belonging, individuality, and the ephemeral nature of life. By capturing his subjects in homogeneous groups, he creates a sense of a collective entity and finds strength and beauty in contrast between the humans and the surrounding landscape. He views these groups as "a piece of the stratum which was highlighted." Yokonami's photographs often delve into the human condition and aim to create a deeper connection between the viewer and the subject.

Through the "Assembly" series, Yokonami seeks to capture and highlight the interconnectedness of individuals within a community while also emphasizing the uniqueness of each person. The homogeneous grouping of his subjects creates a visual representation of unity and togetherness, while the contrast between the humans and the surrounding landscape emphasizes the ephemeral nature of life.
