Givenchy Pre-Fall 2023 Beachwear Capsule

Givenchy Pre-Fall 2023 Beachwear Capsule

Givenchy's upcoming Pre-Fall 2023 "Givenchy Plage" collection aims to blend the city and the beach with a new swim - and beachwear capsule. The collection draws inspiration from Hubert de Givenchy's seaside estate, Le Clos Fiorentina, and its soft colour palette. Creative director Matthew M. Williams wanted to explore the relaxed elegance. So he protected the region's natural beauty through light and colour, particularly the pearly pink façades typical of the area. Williams found photographs of the founding designer's first-ever swimwear silhouettes in the archives, which debuted in a New York show in 1952.

The collection features House staples such as bold cut-outs, quintessential sailor stripes, and pearls, with black and white as the primary colours. Prints from two decades ago, trompe l'oeil pearls on a caftan, and a pale grey design inspired by ID necklaces also reappear. The beach club attire includes white pyjama separates, resort-ready tops, blue T-shirts, and shorts made of regenerative cotton poplin and linen. The collection also offers sportswear-leaning carryalls in raffia, 4G sneakers, and bob hats. Completing the collection, new iterations of the House's 4G Plumetis jewellery, including a bracelet, a ring, and earrings, arrive in pink bio-resin with violent Swarovski crystals.

Givenchy Plage lets the past and present converge to create a seasonal ready-to-wear collection that fulfils wardrobe requirements. You can view the collection in the gallery above and purchase it on the brand's website.
