Balenciaga Summer 2024 Campaign



Earlier in the month, Balenciaga unveiled an intriguing Fall/Winter 2024 lineup in Paris, only to follow up with its Summer 2024 campaign. This new campaign, marked by a collection of static and dynamic portraits, was captured by esteemed fine art photographer Jitka Hanzlová.

Featured prominently in the campaign are notable individuals close to Demna, the brand's designer. This includes his mother, Ella, his spouse, and musician BFRND. Contributions also come from Demna's mentor, Linda Loppa, and personalities such as artist Eliza Douglas, actress Renata Litvinova, brand ally Krish Ghai, and Balenciaga catwalk regulars Tommy Blue, Noureddine Boudaakat, Simone Embrack, Bibi Hoad, Jay Pak, and Khadim Sock.

The Spring 2024 collection's advertising strategy employs optical illusions by using exceptionally lifelike backdrops that imitate the interior spaces of opulent residences, akin to the collection's trompe-l'oeil accessories. "These images cleverly play with the perception of depth, melding the real with the fabricated to challenge conventional notions of opulence suggested by these interior settings," the brand comments on the campaign's deceptive nature. The assortment features a variety of items, including carcoats, motocross jackets, oversized blazers, petite hoodies, turtlenecks, Monaco Bags, and an array of whimsical accessories.

The concept of illusion is expanded upon in a series of videos, where either the backdrop is removed, or the models' movements reveal the contrast in depth, further exploring the campaign's themes. These videos are currently available to view on Balenciaga's Instagram Stories.
