Alexis Vasilikos. Photographer

Alexis Vasilikos is a visual artist based between Athens and Leros, Greece. He primarily works with photography, encompassing a diverse range of imagery, including post-painterly abstraction and peripatetic photography.

In his recent series, "Imaginary Monuments," Vasilikos explores what kind of monuments photographs would be if they were physical structures. Through this project, he delves into questions of collective identity, imagination, and the meaning (or lack thereof) that photographs can hold. Each photograph in the series is titled after an imaginary monument, playing with the idea of meaning and how we construct it.

Vasilikos' work challenges the boundaries of traditional photography, encouraging viewers to think deeply about the nature of the medium and its capacity for conveying meaning and emotion.
